Training & Capability Development

Build the expertise to deliver credible exercises with confidence

Develop the people, skills and professional standards required to facilitate effective exercises, lead complex delivery and build a sustainable in-house exercising capability.

Whether you are introducing teams to Excyte, strengthening the performance of experienced facilitators or developing an independent organisational exercise capability, our training provides practical development grounded in GDAK's operational experience and proven exercise methodology.

Training is available as an optional addition to Excyte or as platform-independent professional development for organisations that want to design, lead and sustain their own exercise programmes.

Exercise Capability Development

Develop the expertise required to design, lead and sustain an independent exercising capability.

Our Exercise Capability Development training is not tied to Excyte or any other platform. It is designed for organisations that want to deliver their own exercises in-house, develop professional exercise staff or establish a broader organisational exercising capability.

The training draws on the same principles, methods and operational experience used by GDAK's own exercise professionals. It moves beyond basic facilitation and develops the skills required to plan, design, coordinate and lead complex exercises from initial concept through to post-exercise learning.

Lead Exercise Facilitator Training

Professional development for individuals responsible for leading complex exercises and building internal exercising capability.

Participants learn how to lead the end-to-end delivery of an exercise, including defining objectives, shaping scenarios, coordinating exercise staff, briefing facilitators, managing exercise control and working with senior stakeholders.

The programme also covers dynamic delivery, quality assurance, intervention decisions, participant management, post-exercise review and the identification of meaningful learning.

It is designed for organisations that want to reduce reliance on external providers, deliver credible exercises independently and create a sustainable in-house exercising capability.

Excyte Training

Optional training for organisations that want to build confidence, strengthen facilitation skills and gain greater value from Excyte. Excyte is designed to be used with practical guidance and supporting materials, allowing organisations to begin delivering exercises independently. For teams that want more structured support, our Excyte training programmes provide practical, role-focused development for facilitators using the platform. Training is not required to use Excyte. It is available as an additional service for organisations that want to accelerate adoption, improve delivery consistency and develop greater internal confidence.

  • Excyte Facilitator Fundamentals

A practical introduction to delivering effective exercises through Excyte. This programme is designed for new or less experienced facilitators. Participants learn how to prepare an exercise, navigate the platform, brief participants, introduce scenario content, guide discussion and manage the pace of delivery. The course also covers effective questioning, participant engagement, time management and the immediate post-exercise review. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to deliver structured Excyte exercises with greater confidence and consistency.

  • Excyte Facilitator Advanced

Advanced development for experienced Excyte facilitators delivering more complex exercises. This programme builds on the fundamentals and focuses on managing larger groups, senior participants, complex scenarios and exercises involving multiple teams or functions. Participants develop advanced questioning and facilitation techniques, learn how to manage challenging participant dynamics and explore how to adapt exercise delivery while maintaining structure, realism and control. The programme is suited to organisations that want to establish a higher standard of Excyte facilitation across their internal teams.
